Confessions of a Madd Mother

Tyler and Jason have been especially mischievous the last few days, so I thought that I would just let you in on a "day in the life of a madd mother"

This is what was left of my living room after the tornado went through first thing in the morning (Tyler and Jason did have a little bit of help from Matthew:-)

In the picture below, there are little tiny "dots" all over the floor, which are hole punches - one of Tyler's favorite things to make and play with.

Off to the Fun Center with our neighborhood playgroup. Tons of fun - we had the entire place to ourselves, it was so nice.

A little bit of painting in the afternoon while Jason takes a nap.

Time to vacuum up the "dots" (Thank goodness for vacuums!)

One day later - total disaster in Jason's room. Just before this, I caught Tyler cutting Jason's hair with nose trimmers!! I heard Tyler say, "Hold still, Jason." It isn't horrible, but I am going to have to buzz the poor kids head! You may wonder where the parental supervision is during these times, well I am usually in the next room trying to get the dishes done or eat. They are so fast, that I only have to leave them for 5 minutes for them to destroy!
I am sure that all mothers can relate to this... oh the joys!! I am told that I will miss these messes one day - but we shall see, that day must be VERY far away!

Time to start shaving

While the boys were in the bathtub tonight they wanted to play with shaving cream. Tyler decided that he needed to shave, so he put the shaving cream all over his face, and of course, Jason followed along. We gave him a razor with the cover on it and he started to shave. Grandpa has done this with him before, so he is an old pro at shaving. Jason just watched very intently. When Tyler was done, he shaved Jason's face. It was so cute!

Jason was so tired because he did not take a nap today, that he fell asleep on the couch before I could get him in bed.

Pumpkin Mess

Jimmy and I were in the back yard raking some of the leaves while Tyler created this masterpiece with shaving cream:

Of course, Jason could not miss out on a good mess! They both went straight to the bath.

This is why I am not able to accomplish much when both boys are awake - they are always up to something. When I am cleaning up a mess in one room, they are off making another mess in a different room!!

Happy Halloween

After a week of parties and neither boy wanting to dress up, we had a successful Halloween night. Tyler told me all week that he would only wear his costume on Halloween, and that is exactly what he did. My parents and sisters came over for Halloween, so Tyler was more than happy to put his costume on for Grandma! Tyler was a lion (at his request) and Jason was Bob the Builder (because he would not wear any other costumes).

They had a great time trick-or-treating. Once Jason got the hang of it, he was in heaven. After every door he would reach in his bucket to get the candy and he wanted it open. I am not sure how much candy he came home with that had not been opened and had a bite taken out of it. Tyler also had fun, and even said "Trick-or-treat" at a few houses. I don't think that he ate one piece of candy the whole night.

Checking out all of the candy, but not eating a single piece.

Leaves!

We went outside to play for a little bit this afternoon and had a great time in the leaves that have fallen in our yard. Jason was hilarious to watch - he absolutly LOVED the leaves. Jimmy raked a big pile for Jason and he was just laughing and running all over the place. Tyler just wanted to make a "beautiful pile" and not jump in it.

Tyler took this picture.

Tyler's beautiful pile of leaves.

Jason thought it was so much fun to grab a handful of leaves and put them at the bottom of the slide and then go down the slide. I don't know how many times he did this. He would fall several times because he was trying to run so fast.

Brotherly Love

These are in random order, but here are a few pictures of the activities that have kept us busy for the last couple of weeks.

Jason knows how to kick back and relax. (Something he did not learn from his mother!)

Tyler made a cake all by himself! He did this as I was making cookies. He added all of his own ingredients and then we put it in a pan and baked it! Tyler and Jason tried it, but I didn't dare. He is so creative.

We went to the new Chuck E. Cheese with some friends last week. The boys had a blast! Jason would not get off of this horse and Tyler wanted to do a roller coaster simulator all morning.

Tyler can be very helpful, when he wants to be! One night he decided that he was going to give jason a bath, change his diaper and put him to bed. Surprisingly, Jason held still for Tyler to change his diaper, and he did a great job.

Tyler reading Jason books before bed.

Tyler made Jason lunch one day - a hot dog bun with spagetti-o's on one half and BBQ sauce and mayo on the other. YUM YUM!! I can get the exact recipe from Tyler if anyone would like to try it :-)

A couple of weeks ago we went to the Aerospace Museum. The boys had a great time playing in the model cock pit.

This was the large group of us that went!!

Arches National Park

Jimmy and I were able to spend a weekend away, without the kids, to celebrate our anniversary and Jimmy's 30th birthday. My sister and parents came to watch the kids. We went to Arches National Park by Moab, UT. It was a lot of fun, and we pretty much spent the entire time hiking. These were hikes that would not have been fun for little kids, so it was great to be able to do everything without worrying about diapers, naps or snacks! The pictures are in no particular order and in no way do these scenes justice!

Double O Arch - really cool view!

Delicate Arch - the famous one on the Utah license plates. This was our favorite one. It was one heck of a hike to get up there, but it was SO worth it!! You come around a corner and there is the arch. It is on the side of a cliff and looks like it could fall at any time.

This is the view when you come around the corner.

Landscape Arch - very cool!!

Behind us is Partition Arch - Jimmy is sitting in the smaller arch in the picture below

This was one of the many awesome views that we got during the hike. We were right on top of one of these 'fins' in this picture.

Yes, I am holding up this rock!
